11-27-23 Spanish Classes at Hudson JSHS Update

Dear Hudson Junior/Senior High School Families,

With the departure of Jamie Weiss from the Hudson City School District for new opportunities, we would like to provide an update for you all on the instruction of Spanish classes at Hudson Junior/Senior High School for the 2023-24 school year.

Effective today, Omonike Akinyemi will be teaching the Spanish classes in periods 6-9 in-person and Maria Amate, the Questar III BOCES Spanish teacher, will teach the students in period 1 virtually. Ms. Akinyemi will serve as the proctor for this virtual class.

Additionally, Ms. Amate will serve as the virtual instructor for the Spanish classes in periods 3-4. Ms. Craft will be the proctor for the period 3 Spanish class, while Ms. Dort will serve as the period 4 proctor. Our School Counselors in both buildings assisted with making minor adjustments to students’ schedules.

The Hudson City School District will continue its search for a full-time replacement to teach Spanish at Hudson Junior/Senior High School. Several options including conversations with Questar III BOCES on distance learning and virtual opportunities, local colleges and school districts with open positions to potentially receive resumes have been pursued.

Thank you very much for your understanding and cooperation.

Sincerely,

Dr. Juliette Pennyman                                                         Derek Reardon
