Press Release: Mollie Zucker Appointed Bluehawk Academy Associate Principal

HUDSON, NY – The Hudson City School District Board of Education, at its Nov. 14 meeting, appointed Mollie Zucker, an individual with over 18 years of experience in education, to the position of Bluehawk Academy Associate Principal, effective Nov. 23, 2023.

In her transition from health and physical education teacher, Zucker will now oversee the progress of students in the Bluehawk Academy, a secondary program launched by the District in February to provide innovative educational opportunities to students.

Zucker will be working directly with the Bluehawk Academy staff consisting of Megan Amendola, a career guidance counselor, Michelle Donelley, a dedicated expert in social work, Larry Walker, a professional focused in restorative justice, and Darnell Harris, a passionate driver and monitor for the program.

“On behalf of the Hudson City School District, I am excited to welcome Mollie Zucker into the field of administration,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Juliette Pennyman said. “Mrs. Zucker has proved herself as a friendly face with a passion for the educational experience in Hudson and supporting students and staff alike.”

Zucker received her Bachelor’s in Biblical Studies, Health and Physical Education from Cairn University, her Master’s in Adventure Education from Prescott College and her certification for her Advanced Graduate degree in Educational Leadership from Stony Brook University is pending.

Zucker holds an extensive background in education. Serving in roles internationally, nationally and in New York State. Introduced to the field as a physical education teacher at the American Academy for Girls in Kuwait and EduVenture, a college study abroad program, serving as an adventure leader and instructor at the Fiji and Papua Indonesia campuses. 

From there, Zucker served as the master guide for the wilderness therapy program at Adirondack Leadership Expeditions in Saranac Lake, NY. At Prescott College in Arizona, she was a Graduate Assistant for expeditionary learning and history of adventure education. For the last 11 years, Zucker has embraced Bluehawk pride at Hudson City Schools as a teaching assistant at Montgomery C. Smith Elementary School and a health and physical education teacher at Hudson Junior High School.

“It is truly an honor and uplifting feeling to be trusted as an Associate Principal at the Bluehawk Academy,” Zucker said. “I’m excited to continue my work with the amazing students and staff at Hudson Junior/Senior High School and provide support and preparation for students in the Bluehawk Academy in their pursuit of life after high school.”

In her free time, Zucker can be found enjoying time outdoors with her three children, oftenly building forts, camping, hiking and celebrating adventures with ice cream.
