Hudson Senior High School Senior and My Brother’s Keeper fellow Dejuan Bailey and Hudson Senior High School Guidance Counselor Vernon (Rocky) Payne attended a special New York State celebration of the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Jan. 8 at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany.
Bailey was one of four MBK fellows in New York State to be highlighted in a documentary touching on the inspiration of Dr. King.
Some of the distinguished guests in attendance were, New York State Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado, New York State Majority Senate Leader Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins, New York State Assemblymember John McDonald, Chancellor of the New York State Board of Regents Dr. Lester Young, Jr. and SUNY Chancellor John B. King, Jr. (on panel).
Dejuan was able to take a photos with Assemblymember McDonald and with one of the featured people in the film, Rev. Dr. Elgin Joseph Taylor, Sr., the Senior Pastor of Sweet Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Albany.
