The basil is grown in hydroponic grow towers. Students are responsible for caring for all of the plants in the classroom. The classroom also has a compost tower with 200 Red Wiggler worms. The students will soon have more herbs and vegetables to share with the school cafeteria. This is a great example of a working urban sustainable garden. Mrs. Nowak is so proud of all her students!
The harvested basil was used by the Food Services staff to make a Margarita Pizza for Hudson Senior High School students on March 28, 2024.
