PDF: 6-11-24 Letter: Potential Threat to District Resolved

Dear Hudson City School District Families, Faculty and Staff,

At approximately 9:15 a.m. today, June 11, 2024, the Hudson City School District was made aware of unsettling comments and disturbing behavior made by a student. The District immediately collaborated with law enforcement to assess the situation. Following an interview with District administration members and law enforcement officers, there was no direct threat to any members of the Hudson City School District.

The student in question voluntarily left the school’s campus with their guardian to seek medical evaluation.

Threats against schools, even if they are deemed not credible, are treated very seriously. This includes any questionable comments that are written, posted online or overheard in conversation. Students who are determined to have made such threats face consequences through our school’s Code of Conduct, as well as potential legal consequences. This is an opportune time to discuss this situation with your student(s) and emphasize that there are severe consequences of such actions.

As always, the District takes all claims and threats seriously and investigates them to the fullest extent. Please know that the health and safety of our students and staff is our main priority. I encourage you all to speak with your student(s) about the importance of immediately reporting concerning behavior to an adult, staff member or law enforcement. A reminder that the District’s anonymous reporting tool from STOPit Solutions, is a great resource to report potential threats and/or ongoing issues.

Thank you very much for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Dr. Juliette Pennyman

Superintendent of Schools

Hudson City School District
